Suk Hyun-jun (born on June 29, 1991) is a professional footballer from South Korea. He plays as a forward, which means he is usually one of the players who tries to score goals.

Playing Career Highlights

Suk Hyun-jun has played for many different football clubs around the world. He started his career in Europe and later played in Asia.

Starting at Ajax

Suk began his professional journey with Ajax, a famous Dutch club. He signed a contract in October 2010. He made his first team debut in February 2010. This was in a game where Ajax won 4–0 against Roda JC.

He even scored his first goal for Ajax in a friendly match. This was against the English club Chelsea in July 2010. However, he did not play in many official games during the 2010–11 season. His contract with Ajax was not extended after that.

Moving to Groningen

In June 2011, Suk joined another Dutch team, Groningen. He signed a two-year contract with them. In his first season, he scored five goals. Two of these goals were against a strong team, PSV Eindhoven.

This showed he had a lot of potential. But he did not score any goals in his second season. Because of this, he had to leave the club.

Playing in Portugal

In January 2013, Suk moved to Portugal. He signed with Primeira Liga club Marítimo. He scored his first goal for Marítimo in his third game. This goal helped his team win 1–0 against Sporting CP.

He scored again in a 1–1 draw with Porto. After scoring four goals in half a year, he moved to Saudi Arabia. He joined Al-Ahli because their new coach was interested in him.

Time at Vitória de Setúbal

After a difficult time in Saudi Arabia due to an injury, Suk returned to Portugal. He first joined Nacional. Then, in January 2015, he moved to Vitória de Setúbal.

During the 2014–15 season, he scored ten goals in total. Five were for Nacional and five for Vitória. This was the first time he scored double-digit goals in a season. In the next season, he scored 11 goals in the first half. One of his goals was even named the Primeira Liga Goal of the Month.

Joining FC Porto

Suk's great performance led him to join Porto in January 2016. Porto is one of the biggest clubs in Portugal. However, this move did not go as well as hoped.

He did not play much for Porto. So, he was loaned out to other clubs. He played for Trabzonspor in Turkey and Debrecen in Hungary.

Time with Troyes

In August 2017, Suk was loaned to Ligue 1 club Troyes in France. He quickly started scoring goals for Troyes. He scored in his fifth game and then in the next two league matches.

In December, he scored two goals against Monaco. But in January 2018, he got an ankle injury. This kept him out of play for over a month. After his injury, he found it hard to get back to his best form.

In June 2018, Troyes signed Suk permanently. But he soon moved to Reims. He returned to Troyes in January 2020. His contract with Troyes ended in July 2022.

Playing for Jeonju Citizen

After leaving Troyes, Suk returned to South Korea. He joined K4 League club Jeonju Citizen in February 2023. He was able to play for the club while a legal process was ongoing. However, Jeonju Citizen later removed him from their player list.
