Summer Glau (born July 24, 1981) is an American actress. She is well-known for her roles in exciting science fiction and fantasy TV shows. You might know her as River Tam in Firefly (2002) and the movie Serenity (2005). She also played Cameron in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2008–2009) and Isabel Rochev in Arrow (2013–2014).

Growing Up
Summer Glau was born in San Antonio, Texas. She grew up there with her two younger sisters, Kaitlin and Christie. Her family background includes Scottish-Irish and German roots.
Summer was a talented ballet dancer from a young age. She even received a scholarship to a ballet company. To help her focus on her dance training, she was homeschooled from third grade all the way through high school. Besides classical ballet, she also learned tango and flamenco dancing.
Her Acting Journey
Starting Out: 2002–2008
Summer Glau's first TV role was in 2002 on the show Angel. She played a lead ballerina in one episode.
After meeting director Joss Whedon on Angel, she was cast in his TV series Firefly. She played River Tam, a very smart but troubled girl who had been experimented on. Fans loved her performance, and she even won a Saturn Award in 2006 for it. For her action scenes in the movie Serenity, she trained for six months in wushu, a type of Chinese martial arts.
After Serenity, Summer appeared in other TV shows like Cold Case and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. She also had a small part in the movie Sleepover.
In 2006, she joined the show The 4400 as Tess Doerner. She also starred in the movie Mammoth and the TV movie The Initiation of Sarah.
One of her most famous roles was Cameron Phillips in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. She played a robot from the future sent to protect a young boy named John Connor. In this show, Summer even got to show off her ballet skills in some scenes. She won another Saturn Award in 2008 for this role.
Later Roles: 2009–Present
In 2009, Summer Glau appeared as herself in an episode of The Big Bang Theory. She also joined the cast of Joss Whedon's show Dollhouse for a few episodes.
She played the main character Lindsey in the 2010 film Deadly Honeymoon. She also had a role in the 2011 film The Legend of Hell's Gate: An American Conspiracy. Summer also guest-starred in the TV series Chuck, where she reunited with her Firefly co-star Adam Baldwin.
In 2011, Summer played Orwell in NBC's The Cape. She was a mysterious blogger who helped the main character fight crime. She also appeared in Alphas as Skylar Adams, a super-smart character. She even voiced Kara Zor-El (Supergirl) in the animated movie Superman/Batman: Apocalypse.
In 2012, Summer starred in the Hallmark movie Help for the Holidays. She played an elf who helped a family find their Christmas spirit again. In 2013, she was a lead in the comedy film Knights of ..., where she played a character who enjoyed live-action role-playing (LARPing). She also had small guest roles in Grey's Anatomy and Hawaii Five-0.
From 2013 to 2014, Summer played the villain Isabel Rochev in the superhero series Arrow. In 2014, she appeared in all 12 episodes of the TV series Sequestered.
Summer reunited with her Firefly co-star Nathan Fillion again in the web series Con Man (2015) and in an episode of Castle.
More recently, from 2018 to 2019, Summer Glau had a recurring role as Miss Jones in the Netflix crime drama series Wu Assassins. She also narrated a podcast called Ctrl-Alt-Destroy.
Her Life Outside Acting
Summer Glau married Val Morrison in 2014. They met while working on the show Hawaii Five-0. They have two daughters, born in January 2015 and October 2017.
Summer often attends comic conventions around the world. She is a big supporter of the science fiction fan community. She has also supported clean energy, like wind energy.
Summer once shared that her favorite movie as a child was Camelot. She has said she would love to act in historical movies, especially those based on books by authors like Jane Austen.
