Geography and Location
Summerdale is found at coordinates 30.487630 degrees North and -87.701121 degrees West. A main road, Alabama State Route 59, runs along the west side of town. This road goes north about 5 miles to Robertsdale and south about 6 miles to Foley.
The U.S. Census Bureau states that Summerdale covers a total area of about 25.2 square kilometers (or 10.17 square miles). Most of this area, about 25.1 square kilometers (10.13 square miles), is land. Only a small part, about 0.1 square kilometers (0.04 square miles), is water.

Education in Summerdale

After 8th grade, students usually go to Elberta High School in nearby Elberta for grades 9 through 12. There is also a private school, Snook Christian Academy, which teaches students from pre-K through 12th grade.
The Naval Outlying Landing Field (NOLF) Summerdale is an airport located on the east side of Summerdale. It is used by the US Navy for training and operations. The airport has a runway that is about 2,850 feet long and 150 feet wide. It is owned and managed by the U.S. Navy.
Summerdale Public Library
The Summerdale Public Library is a great place to visit in the center of town. It is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM, and on Saturdays from 9 AM to 1 PM. Besides offering many books, the library also provides free Wi-Fi, a notary service, and meeting spaces. They have special reading programs and after-school activities for children. Parks and Recreation
Summerdale offers several places for fun and outdoor activities.
Pioneer Park
Pioneer Park is located right in the middle of what people call "Downtown Summerdale." This park is a central spot for community events. It has a walking trail and is surrounded by historic buildings from the early 1900s. You can see the town clock and a gazebo in the park. Large, shady oak trees, which have survived many hurricanes, line the park. There are also brick sidewalks and benches where you can relax. The park is close to the Splash Park, the Tennis Courts, the school, and the library.
Tennis Courts
In 2022, the Town of Summerdale finished building new tennis courts. These courts are located on NW 1st Street, ready for everyone to enjoy a game of tennis.
Children’s Splash Park
The children’s splash park is on NW 1st Street (County Rd 71). It's a super fun place for younger kids to cool off between April and October. In 2022, a new playground was added to the splash park area, making it even better. There is also a gazebo at this park where families can gather.
Community Center
The Community Center is in the heart of Summerdale. It has a playground with lots of shade, which is perfect for kids to play safely.
Sidewalks and Walking Trails
Summerdale is working to become a more walkable community. The town's walking trail starts at Pioneer Park, where the sidewalks are made of brick. There's a nice sitting area around the town's clock. The sidewalk then goes past the Old Tobacco Warehouse, which was built a long time ago in the early 1900s. After crossing Hamm Street, the sidewalk turns into concrete. These sidewalks help connect different parts of the community to the parks and other areas.
Baseball Parks
If you love baseball, Summerdale has two baseball fields. They are located near the water tower on County Road 71.
