Sunnyside–Tahoe City is a special kind of community in Placer County, California. It's located right on the beautiful northwest shore of Lake Tahoe. This area is known as a census-designated place (CDP), which means it's a place the government counts for population, but it's not officially a city or town.
In 2020, about 1,555 people lived here. The total area of Sunnyside–Tahoe City is about 3.4 square miles, and it's all land. This area includes two smaller communities: Sunnyside and Tahoe City.

Who Lives in Sunnyside–Tahoe City?
Population in 2010
In 2010, the census counted 1,557 people living in Sunnyside–Tahoe City. Most of the people living here, about 95%, were White. There were also smaller numbers of people from other racial backgrounds, including Asian, Native American, and African American. About 5.4% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino.
Most people (99.6%) lived in regular homes. There were 744 households in total. About 16% of these homes had children under 18. Many homes were married couples living together, but there were also many single people living alone. The average household had about 2 people.
The population had a mix of ages. About 12% were under 18, and about 10.5% were 65 or older. The median age was around 40.7 years old, meaning half the people were younger and half were older than that. For every 100 females, there were about 120 males.
There were over 2,100 housing units in the area. About 54% of these homes were owned by the people living in them, and 46% were rented.

Back in 2000, the population was a bit higher, with 1,761 people. The racial makeup was similar to 2010, with most people being White (95.34%). About 3.63% of the population was Hispanic or Latino.

Sunnyside–Tahoe City has a type of weather called a warm-summer Mediterranean climate. This means it has warm, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Even though it's a "warm-summer" climate, it still gets a lot of snow in winter because of its high elevation near Lake Tahoe.
