Super NES Classic Edition facts for kids
The Super NES Classic Edition (also known as the SNES Mini) is a small video game console that lets you play classic games. Nintendo released it in 2017. It's like a smaller version of the original Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and can play its games. This console comes with two controllers, and their cables are 1.4 meters long. It's the follow-up to the NES Classic Edition.

What's Inside the SNES Mini?
The SNES Mini has special parts that let it connect to modern TVs using an HDMI cable. This means you can see the games in clear 720p quality. The controllers look and feel just like the ones from the original SNES console. Nintendo European Research and Development also created a special system inside that helps the games run smoothly.
New Features You'll Love
The SNES Mini has some cool new features compared to the older NES Mini:
- You can rewind your gameplay by up to one minute. This is super handy if you make a mistake!
- There are 11 different picture frames or "border arts" you can choose to put around your game screen.
- The console comes with two controllers right out of the box, so you can play with a friend immediately.
- The controller cables are longer (1.4 meters) than the NES Mini's (0.7 meters), giving you more room to play.
Games You Can Play
The SNES Mini comes with 21 games already installed. One exciting game included for the first time is Star Fox 2, which was never officially released before this console! The games included can be a little different depending on where you buy the console (like North America, Europe, or Japan). While you can't officially add more games, some people have found ways to put extra games on the console.

What's Next for Nintendo?
Nintendo has said they don't plan to make a Nintendo 64 Classic Mini. Leaders at Nintendo have explained that their main focus is on newer consoles like the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite. They saw the Classic Mini consoles as a way to connect with fans between their older Wii U console and the launch of the Nintendo Switch.
