The Story of Super President
The hero of the show is President James Norcross. He was once an Astronaut (a person who travels to space). During a space mission, he gained his special powers. This happened because of a strange cosmic storm.
President Norcross's Powers
President Norcross (voiced by Paul Frees) gained incredible strength. He also got a unique power like the comic book hero Metamorpho. He could change his body's makeup whenever he wanted! This meant he could turn into things like granite (a very hard rock), steel (a strong metal), ozone (a type of gas), water, or even electricity.
His Secret Base and Vehicles
The President had a secret base hidden beneath the "Presidential Mansion." This was a special version of the real White House. A secret panel in the Oval Office (the President's main office) led him to this hidden cave. To travel quickly, Super President used a futuristic vehicle called the Omnicar. This amazing machine could be a car, an aircraft (like a plane), or even a submarine (a boat that goes underwater). He could also fly using jets built into his belt!
Who Knew His Secret?
Even though he was called "Super President," only one person knew his secret identity. This was his trusted advisor, Jerry Sales. Jerry was a bit chubby and often smoked a pipe. He was the only one who knew that the leader of the free world was also a superhero. Super President wore a cool red and white costume when he was fighting crime.
Spy Shadow: Another Adventure
Each episode of Super President actually included two cartoon stories. Besides Super President, there was also a segment called Spy Shadow. This part starred secret agent Richard Vance (voiced by Ted Cassidy).
Richard Vance's Special Ability
Richard Vance learned a special trick while he was in Tibet. He learned how to control his own shadow! His shadow (also voiced by Ted Cassidy) could move and act completely on its own. Richard used this amazing ability as an agent for a group called Interspy.
Spy Shadow's Powers and Weakness
Spy Shadow was very useful in fighting bad guys. He could slip through tiny openings and hide himself in other people's shadows. He was also impossible to hurt because he wasn't solid. However, his fists were still solid, so he could punch villains! Spy Shadow had only one weakness: he couldn't appear in total darkness. This is because "there can be no shadow without light." He often battled a group of villains called S.P.I.D.E.R. This name stood for "Society for Plunder, International Disorder, Espionage and Racketeering."
