Susan Essman (born May 31, 1955) is an American actress, comedian, producer, and writer. She is famous for playing Susie Greene on the TV show Curb Your Enthusiasm. She also played Bobbi Wexler on Broad City and was the voice of Mittens in the movie Bolt.

Early Life
Susie Essman was born on May 31, 1955, in The Bronx, New York City. She grew up in a town called Mount Vernon. Her father, Leonard Essman, was a doctor who specialized in internal medicine and cancer. Her mother, Zora, taught Russian at Sarah Lawrence College.
Susie Essman is also the great-granddaughter of Leo Feodoroff, who was a silent film actor and a Russian opera producer. Her grandparents came from Russia and Poland, and she is Jewish. She earned her college degree from SUNY Purchase College.
Career in Entertainment
Stand-Up Comedy
Susie Essman has been performing stand-up comedy for over 30 years. She has traveled to many clubs across the country. In 1988, she appeared on HBO in a show called On Location: Women of the Night II with other rising female comedians like Joy Behar.
On January 5, 1989, she was a guest on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Her own half-hour comedy special, One Night Stand, first aired on HBO in 1992. Many of her jokes come from her background, and she has been featured in documentaries like Heroes of Jewish Comedy.
In July 2007, Essman performed her stand-up comedy in the UK for the first time at the Newbury Comedy Festival. While she was in England, she also appeared on the British TV show 8 Out of 10 Cats.
Acting Roles
Susie Essman started her acting career with small parts in movies like Crocodile Dundee II and Punchline in 1988. However, she is most famous for her role as Susie Greene on the HBO comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm. On the show, she plays the wife of Jeff Greene, who is played by Jeff Garlin. Her character is known for being very outspoken and funny. In 2007, Slate magazine said her character was one of the best on television.
She also provided the voice of Helen Higgins on the Comedy Central show Crank Yankers. She was also a reporter for the first season of The Daily Show. In 2008, she appeared on Comedy Central's Roast of Bob Saget. She also voiced "Mittens" the cat in the 2008 Disney animated movie, Bolt. She played Mittens again in the 2009 short film Super Rhino. She also appeared on the game show Million Dollar Password with Regis Philbin.
Personal Life
In 2002, Susie Essman found out she had celiac disease. This means she cannot eat gluten. She used to be a pescatarian, which means she ate fish but no other meat. She explained that she chose this diet because she didn't like the way chicken looked. She often says she "lives on sushi."
In September 2008, she married Jim Harder, who works as a commercial real estate broker. She has a Shih Tzu dog named Popeye. Susie Essman is good friends with Joy Behar and has been on The View many times. In 2009, Joy Behar hosted an event where Susie Essman was a special guest.
