Susan Essman, born on May 31, 1955, is an American comedian, actress, producer, and writer. She is well-known for playing Susie Greene on the TV show Curb Your Enthusiasm. She also voiced Mittens the cat in the animated movie Bolt. Another famous role was Bobbi Wexler on Broad City.

Susie Essman was born in The Bronx, New York City. She grew up in a town called Mount Vernon. Her father, Leonard Essman, was a doctor. Her mother, Zora, taught Russian at Sarah Lawrence College. Susie Essman's grandparents came from Russia and Poland. She is also Jewish.

Stand-Up Comedy and TV Appearances
Susie Essman has been performing stand-up comedy for over thirty years. She has traveled to many clubs across the country. In 1988, she was on HBO in a show called On Location: Women of the Night II. She also appeared on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in 1989.
Her first half-hour comedy special aired on HBO in 1992. Because much of her comedy comes from her background, she has been in documentaries like Heroes of Jewish Comedy. In 2007, she performed her stand-up comedy in the UK for the first time. She also appeared on the British TV show 8 Out of 10 Cats.
Acting Roles in Film and Television
Essman started her acting career with small parts in movies like Crocodile Dundee II in 1988. She is most famous for her role as Susie Greene on the HBO comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm. On the show, she plays the wife of Jeff Greene, played by Jeff Garlin. Her character is known for being very outspoken.
She also provided the voice of Helen Higgins on the Comedy Central series Crank Yankers. In 2008, she voiced Mittens, the cat, in the Disney animated film Bolt. She played this role again in the short film Super Rhino.

Personal Life and Interests
Susie Essman was diagnosed with celiac disease in 2002. This means she cannot eat gluten. She used to be a pescatarian, meaning she ate fish but not other meat. She married Jim Harder, a commercial real estate broker, in September 2008. She has a dog, a Shih Tzu, named Popeye.
Essman is good friends with comedian Joy Behar. She has appeared on The View many times.
