Public Discussions and Views
In March 2020, Moore wrote an article for The Guardian titled "Women must have the right to organise. We will not be silenced." After it was published, The Guardian received a letter signed by over 200 people. This letter disagreed with Moore's idea that supporting the rights of transgender people was a threat to women who were born female. The newspaper published this letter along with other responses, both positive and negative.
Later that year, in September, The Telegraph reported that Moore had faced serious online threats. These threats were made because she had shared opinions that some people did not agree with. On November 16, 2020, Moore announced she was leaving The Guardian. She had worked there for many years since the 1990s. She later wrote in UnHerd that she felt her writing about women's experiences was sometimes changed by editors. She also mentioned that she never quite felt like she fit in at The Guardian.
Political Views
Moore was against the 2003 invasion of Iraq and wrote several articles criticizing the Iraq War. In 2010, she ran as an independent candidate in the UK general election for the area of Hackney North and Stoke Newington. She did this because she was not happy with the main political parties. She finished sixth in the election.
Personal Life
Suzanne Moore has lived in Hackney, London, since the early 1990s. She is a single mother and has three daughters from different relationships. She also believes in republicanism, which means she thinks the UK should have an elected head of state instead of a king or queen.
