Tanglewilde is part of the larger urban area around the city of Lacey.

The community is surrounded by the city of Lacey. It also shares a border with Mushroom Corner. The community is split into two parts, Tanglewilde and Thompson Place. Martin Way divides these two sections. Interstate 5 forms the northern edge of Tanglewilde. Part of its eastern border is along Washington State Route 510.
