Tarrik Jumaan Brock, born on December 25, 1973, is an American baseball coach and former player. He currently works as the first base coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates, a team in Major League Baseball (MLB). Tarrik used to play as an outfielder. He played for the Chicago Cubs for a short time in MLB. He has also coached for other MLB teams like the Houston Astros and San Diego Padres.

Playing in the Major Leagues
Tarrik Brock was first chosen by the Detroit Tigers in the 1991 baseball draft. He was picked in the second round. He spent six years playing in the Tigers' minor league teams. After that, the Seattle Mariners picked him in a special draft called the Rule 5 draft.
Brock played two seasons in Seattle's minor league system. He was released from the team in January 1999. Later that year, he signed with the Colorado Rockies. He was then traded to the Chicago Cubs.
In 2000, Brock made it to the Cubs' main team. He played his first MLB game on March 29, 2000. This game was special because it was played in the Tokyo Dome in Japan. He was the first MLB player to make his debut in Japan. In his very first turn at bat, he hit a single.
Brock stayed with the Cubs until April 22, 2000. He found it tough to get hits in the major leagues. He only got one more hit during that time. After this, he was sent back to the minor leagues. He never played in the major leagues again.
Brock played in an independent league in 2001. He was even named an All-Star there. He tried to return to the major leagues in 2002 and 2003. He played for teams in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. However, he did not make it back to the highest level of baseball. In his short MLB career, Brock had a batting average of .167. This means he got 2 hits out of 12 times at bat.
Coaching Baseball Teams
After his playing career, Tarrik Brock became a coach. In 2006, he coached for the Ogden Raptors. From 2007 to 2013, he worked for the Florida Marlins. He helped their outfielders and taught players how to run bases. In 2010, he also served as an interim first base coach for a short time.
In 2014, Brock became the first base coach for the Houston Astros. The next year, he joined the San Diego Padres organization. He worked as a minor league coordinator. Then, in 2016, he became their first base coach.
In 2017, he moved to the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. There, he continued to help players with outfield skills and baserunning. Before the 2020 season, the Pittsburgh Pirates hired Tarrik Brock. He became their first base coach, which is the role he holds today.
