The Story of Tarzan & Jane
The movie tells its story using flashbacks. It's like Jane and Tarzan are remembering past events. It's their first wedding anniversary, and Jane wants to find the perfect gift for Tarzan. Her friends, the elephant Tantor and the gorilla Terk, are helping her.
Jane's Friends Visit
Jane, Tantor, and Terk remember a time when three of Jane's friends came to visit. Her friends thought Jane was in danger in the jungle. But they soon learned she was happy and safe. They decided to stay for a fun visit.
Jane planned a fancy English picnic for her friends. Tarzan didn't want to join because he thought Jane was embarrassed by his jungle ways. During the picnic, two panthers, Nuru and Sheeta, attacked them! Everyone had to run deeper into the jungle. Jane taught her friends how to survive in the wild. The panthers attacked again, but Tarzan quickly came to save them. The next day, Jane's friends thanked her for the amazing adventure. They hoped to come back soon.
The Diamond Mine Adventure
Back in the present, Jane thinks about giving Tarzan an expensive gift, like jewelry. Terk reminds her about the time Tarzan tried to get her a diamond. Tarzan led two men, Johannes Niels and Merkus, to a volcano with a diamond mine. In return, they promised to give him a diamond for Jane.
But once inside, the men turned on Tarzan. They wanted all the diamonds for themselves. Then, the volcano started to erupt! Tarzan, Jane, and Professor Porter were trapped. Luckily, they escaped before the lava reached them. Tarzan even saved Johannes and Merkus, but they lost all their diamonds. The two men were arrested and sent back to England.
The Music Box Mystery
Professor Porter joins the conversation. He suggests that Jane and Tarzan should celebrate their anniversary with a dance. This makes Terk remember when Jane's old friend, Robert Canler, visited.
Things seemed fine, but Tarzan felt jealous and didn't trust Canler. He thought Canler was a bad person, like Sabor. It turned out Tarzan was right! Canler was secretly working for the Germans during World War I. He came to get a secret code machine. It was hidden inside a music box he had given to Jane. Canler kidnapped Jane, but Tarzan tracked him down. An RAF pilot named Nigel Taylor, who was already looking for Canler, helped Tarzan stop him. Taylor took Canler back to England to face trial.
A Surprise Anniversary Party
Jane feels sad because she's out of ideas for a gift. She thinks anniversaries don't fit Tarzan's jungle life. She returns to their treehouse feeling disappointed. But then, she sees it's decorated! Everyone, including Tarzan, who is wearing his father's suit, planned a surprise party for her.
Terk, Tantor, and the Professor knew about the party all along. They were just distracting Jane! Tarzan gives Jane a beautiful diamond ring made from the same diamonds found in the volcano. The party begins with everyone dancing. Tarzan and Jane dance together under the moonlight, surrounded by fireflies.
