Tatsuya Fujiwara (藤原 竜也, Fujiwara Tatsuya, born May 15, 1982) is a famous Japanese actor. He is well-known around the world for his main roles in many popular films. These include playing Shuya Nanahara in the Battle Royale movies. He also played Light Yagami in the Death Note films. Other big roles are Kaiji Itō in the Kaiji movies and Rikuhiko Yuki in The Incite Mill. In 2014, he played the bad guy Shishio Makoto in the live-action Rurouni Kenshin films.

About Tatsuya Fujiwara
His Early Life
Tatsuya Fujiwara was born in Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. He was interested in acting from a very young age. In 2013, he married his longtime girlfriend. They became parents in the summer of 2016.
His Acting Career
Tatsuya Fujiwara became famous for his role as Shuya Nanahara. He played this character in the 2000 film Battle Royale. He also appeared in the sequel, Battle Royale II: Requiem. In this movie, his character leads a group called the "Wild Seven."
He also starred as Light Yagami in the movies Death Note and Death Note: The Last Name. These films are based on a popular manga series. He even had a small appearance in L: Change the World. This was a spin-off movie from the Death Note series. Tatsuya said it was hard to play a character who showed very few feelings. While filming Death Note: The Last Name, he became good friends with Kenichi Matsuyama. Matsuyama played the character L in the movies.
Tatsuya Fujiwara is also known for his work in theater. He often worked with Yukio Ninagawa, a very important director in Japan. Tatsuya started his acting career on stage before he began acting in movies. He played the main role in a play called Shintoku-maru. He has also acted in plays by Shakespeare, like Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet.
In 2014, he played Shishio Makoto in the Rurouni Kenshin sequels. He returned to the stage in 2015 to play Hamlet again. He performed in Japan, Taiwan, and at the Barbican Theatre in London.
Many people recognize Tatsuya Fujiwara. A magazine in Singapore once said he is "probably one of the most recognisable Japanese stars" there.
