How It All Began
Theodore Spiro Liaros started his hot dog business in a unique way. He used a horse-drawn hot dog cart. He sold hot dogs near where the Peace Bridge was being built. This bridge connects Buffalo with Canada.
A woman was selling sandwiches from a small tool shed nearby. When the bridge was finished in 1927, she offered to sell her shack to Ted. This is how the first Ted's Hot Dogs restaurant began! Back then, a hot dog and a drink cost only 22 cents.
Growing Bigger
In 1948, a second Ted's restaurant opened. It was in the Town of Tonawanda, a suburb north of Buffalo. Over the next few years, Ted's grew even more. New locations opened in Cheektowaga and Amherst.
The menu also got bigger than just hot dogs. Today, there are eight Ted's locations around Buffalo. There is also one restaurant in Tempe, Arizona. Ted's Hot Dogs has even inspired other hot dog restaurants across the United States.

Ted's menu is famous for its charcoal hot dogs. They are cooked fresh when you order them. You can choose from regular, foot-long, or jumbo all-beef hot dogs.
