Terell Stafford (born November 25, 1966) is a talented jazz trumpet player. He is also the Director of Jazz Studies at the Boyer College of Music and Dance at Temple University. This means he helps teach and guide young jazz musicians.
Terell Stafford was born in Miami, Florida. He grew up in both Chicago, Illinois, and Silver Spring, Maryland. He first studied music education at the University of Maryland. Later, he earned a degree in classical trumpet from Rutgers University. Even though he started with classical music, he soon discovered his love for jazz. He began playing jazz with the University of Maryland's jazz band.

Becoming a Jazz Star
Terell Stafford's career in jazz quickly grew. He has played with many famous musicians. Some of these include McCoy Tyner, Christian McBride, and Russell Malone. He has performed on very famous stages. These include Carnegie Hall and even The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He released a CD called New Beginnings. This album featured many new and exciting young musicians.
Teaching and Helping Young Musicians
Besides his work at Temple University, Stafford also teaches at other places. He has worked with the jazz program at the Juilliard School. He also helps with the Essentially Ellington program at the Lincoln Center. These programs are important for helping young jazz artists learn and grow. He also worked with the All-Alaska Jazz Band in 2006.
