The Cove is a neighborhood located in the southeast part of Stamford, Connecticut. It's a place where you can find many regular homes, but also some very fancy ones right by the water.

A Look Back: The Cove's History
The Cove area was one of the first parts of Stamford to be settled. Between 1641 and 1665, this neighborhood was divided among the first people who came to live there. Back then, it was mostly known as East Fields.
Famous People Who Lived in The Cove
Some well-known people have called The Cove home. William F. Buckley Jr. was a famous writer and journalist. He lived in The Cove for many decades. His son, Christopher Buckley, who is also a writer, grew up in the area.
Another important person was Schuyler Merritt. He was a businessman and a U.S. Representative, which means he helped make laws for the country. The famous Merritt Parkway is named after him! He lived on a large property in The Cove.
Where is The Cove?
The Cove is in the southeast corner of Stamford. It doesn't have a super clear line separating it from other neighborhoods. However, it generally doesn't go farther north than East Main Street.
Neighbors of The Cove
The Cove is next to the East Side to the north and northeast. To the south and southwest, it's next to Shippan. The big Long Island Sound is right to the south of The Cove.
How We Map The Cove
Experts often use something called a "census tract" to describe the area of The Cove. This tract is mostly bordered by Seaside Avenue on the west. It also touches the eastern edge of Cummings Park. On the east, it goes up to the border of the town of Darien. This area goes as far north as Interstate 95.
Getting Around The Cove
The neighborhood is located on and around Noroton Hill. This hill also stretches north across Interstate 95 and U.S. Route 1. U.S. Route 1, also known as East Main Street or the Boston Post Road, runs across the top of the hill. Interstate 95 cuts right through it.
Train Travel in The Cove
The New Haven Line of the Metro-North Railroad runs around the north side of The Cove. This train line helps people travel to and from the area. The neighborhood is served by two train stations: Stamford station and Noroton Heights station.
