The East Temple is a tall and famous mountain in Zion National Park, Utah. It stands 7,709 feet (2,349 meters) high. This amazing peak is made of a special type of rock called Navajo Sandstone. It's one of the most well-known sights you'll see in the park.

The mountain is located in Washington County, in the southwest part of Utah, United States. It's about 1.8 miles northeast of the park's main office. The Twin Brothers mountain is nearby, about half a mile to the north. The highest peak close by is The West Temple, which is about 3.85 miles to the west-southwest.

The name "The East Temple" was given to this mountain by John Wesley Powell. He was an explorer who visited the area in 1872. The name became official in 1934, approved by the United States Board on Geographic Names. The first time people successfully climbed to the top was in 1937. The climbers were Glen Dawson, Dick Jones, Homer Fuller, Wayland Gilbert, and Jo Momyer.

Climate Around The East Temple

The best times to visit The East Temple are in spring and fall. The weather is usually very pleasant then. The area has a Cold semi-arid climate. This means it's a desert climate, but it can get cold in winter. The coldest month usually has an average temperature below 32 °F (0 °C). Also, more than half of the yearly rain falls during spring and summer.

This desert area gets less than 10 inches (250 mm) of rain each year. Snowfall in winter is usually light, so it doesn't snow very much.
