What Makes The Fara Special?
The Fara is a popular mountain for hikers. It is not too hard to climb. Once you reach the top, you get amazing views. It is a fantastic spot to look out over the Scottish landscape.
Mountain Status: Corbett and Marilyn
The Fara is almost a "Munro." A Munro is a Scottish mountain that is over 3,000 feet (914.4 meters) high. The Fara is only three meters short of this height! Even though it is not a Munro, it is still very important.
It is known as a "Corbett." Corbetts are mountains in Scotland that are between 2,500 and 3,000 feet tall. The Fara is also a "Marilyn." This means it stands out clearly from the land around it. It has a "prominence" of at least 150 meters (about 492 feet). This makes it easy to spot from far away.
