The Lion King II: Simba's Pride is an animated movie released in 1998. It is the exciting sequel to the popular Disney film The Lion King. This movie tells the story of Simba and Nala's daughter, Kiara. She meets a young lion cub named Kovu. Just like the first movie was inspired by William Shakespeare's play Hamlet, this sequel is similar to another famous Shakespeare play, Romeo and Juliet.
When it was first released, Disney thought Simba's Pride would be very popular. They sent 15 million copies to stores for its release on October 27, 1998. The movie sold 3.5 million copies in just three days! By the late 1990s, 13 million copies had been sold. In 2004, another movie in the series, The Lion King 1½, was released. It showed events that happened before and during the first film.

The Story of Simba's Pride
Simba and Nala are now the proud parents of a daughter named Kiara. Timon and Pumbaa are given the job of looking after her. But Kiara is a curious cub and often sneaks away from their watchful eyes. One day, she wanders into the forbidden lands.
There, Kiara meets a young lion cub named Kovu. They quickly become friends. However, Kiara and her parents don't know that Kovu is the son of Zira. Zira is a lioness who used to follow the evil Scar, who is now gone. Zira has a plan to raise Kovu to take over the Pride Lands and become king. This creates big challenges for Kiara and Kovu's friendship as they grow up. It also tests Simba's trust in his daughter.
