Thomas Berthold, born on November 12, 1964, is a German former football player and manager. He played as a defender, which is a player who helps protect the team's goal. Today, he works as a football expert and commentator for different TV channels.

Playing for Clubs

Thomas Berthold was born in Hanau, a city in Germany. He started playing football at a young age. His first club was TuSpV KeWa Wachenbuchen. In 1978, when he was 14, he joined the youth team of Eintracht Frankfurt.

He played 332 games in the Bundesliga, which is Germany's top football league. He scored 22 goals in these games. Thomas began his professional career in 1982 with Eintracht Frankfurt. He played there for five years until 1987.

From 1987 to 1991, Thomas played football in Italy. He played for Verona from 1987 to 1989. After that, he moved to Roma and played there from 1989 to 1991.

He then came back to Germany. He joined FC Bayern Munich in 1991 and played for them until 1993. His longest time at a club was with VfB Stuttgart, where he played from 1993 to 2000. Thomas Berthold's last season as a professional player was in Turkey. He played for the club Adanaspor until January 15, 2001.
