Tim Heidecker's Career Journey
Television Shows and Comedy
Heidecker and Wareheim created, wrote, and starred in a show called Tom Goes to the Mayor. This animated series was on Adult Swim from 2004 to 2006. In the show, Heidecker played Tom, who always brought ideas to the Mayor (played by Wareheim). Most of Tom's ideas did not work out. The comedy duo sent an early version of their show to comedian Bob Odenkirk. He liked it and helped them sell it to Adult Swim.
Their next show, Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, started in 2007 on Adult Swim. They also created and starred in Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie. Heidecker had a small part in the 2011 movie Bridesmaids. He also played a main role in the 2012 drama The Comedy. In July 2012, Heidecker appeared in an episode of Workaholics.
Since 2012, Heidecker has hosted a funny web series and podcast called On Cinema. On this show, he and his guest (Gregg Turkington) talk about movies. In 2013, an On Cinema Film Guide app was released. It had Heidecker and Turkington reviewing over 17,000 films. Heidecker, Wareheim, Sarah Silverman, Michael Cera, and Reggie Watts started a comedy YouTube channel called Jash.
Since 2016, Heidecker has hosted the podcast and web series Office Hours Live. He hosts it with Vic Berger and Doug Lussenhop. The show features calls with fans, comedians, and musicians.
The duo's horror series, Tim and Eric's Bedtime Stories, aired from 2014 to 2017. A sitcom starring them, Beef House, started in March 2020. In October 2020, Heidecker released his first stand-up comedy special. It was called An Evening with Tim Heidecker. This special is a funny imitation of a typical stand-up show.
Music Projects and Albums
Tim Heidecker played in different indie rock bands when he lived in Philadelphia. He appeared in a 2008 music video for "You Don't Know Me".
Heidecker often sang and wrote lyrics for Awesome Show. Two albums with music from the show were released in 2008. Heidecker and Davin Wood formed a duo called Heidecker & Wood. They were inspired by 1970s soft rock music. Their first album, Starting from Nowhere, came out in 2011. They released a second album, Some Things Never Stay the Same, in 2013.
In 2012, Heidecker made a funny song for a political campaign called "Cain Train". This song was the first of nine that became a full album, Cainthology: Songs in the Key of Cain. All money from the album sales went to a program that helps people.
Heidecker also released songs that made fun of Bob Dylan's style. In 2013, he released the album Urinal St. Station with his band, The Yellow River Boys.
In June 2014, Heidecker and Wareheim released a song called "Jambalaya". Heidecker's solo album In Glendale was released in May 2016.
In August 2020, Heidecker announced Fear of Death. This album featured members of other bands like Foxygen and The Lemon Twigs. His sixth album, High School, came out in June 2022.
