Timber Mountain is a cool peak in the San Gabriel Mountains. It's located in Southern California, in a special area called the Cucamonga Wilderness. This mountain is part of the Angeles National Forest, which is a big natural space. It stands tall at 8,307 feet (about 2,532 meters) high! It's a popular spot for hikers who love exploring nature.

A Mountain's New Name

Did you know Timber Mountain wasn't always called that? Long ago, it had a different name: Chapman Mountain. But in the middle of the 1900s, people decided to give it a new name. That's how it became known as Timber Mountain. It's interesting how places can change their names over time!

Hiking to the Top

Many adventurers enjoy hiking up Timber Mountain. The most common way to reach the top is by following the Three T's Trail. This trail is a fun challenge for hikers.

You can start your hike from two different directions. One way is from the south, through a place called Icehouse Canyon. This path leads you to Icehouse Saddle, a spot where different trails meet.

Another way to start is from the north. This route takes you past Telegraph Peak and Thunder Mountain. No matter which way you choose, hiking Timber Mountain is a great adventure!
