Timothy Tarpeh Weah (born February 22, 2000) is an American professional soccer player. He plays as a winger or right-back for the Italian club Juventus and the United States national team.
Weah started his professional career with Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain in 2018. There, he won the French league title twice and the Trophée des Champions once. He also won the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup while on loan at Celtic in 2019. Later, he joined Lille and helped them win another Ligue 1 title and Trophée des Champions in 2021. In July 2023, he moved to the Italian club Juventus and won the 2023–24 Coppa Italia with them.
Timothy Weah first played for the United States senior national team in March 2018. He was part of the team that won the CONCACAF Nations League in 2021, 2023, and 2024. Timothy is the son of George Weah, who was a famous soccer player and later became the President of Liberia. His father won the Ballon d'Or award in 1995.

About Timothy Weah's Life
Timothy Weah was born on February 22, 2000, in Brooklyn, New York. His father, George Weah, was a professional soccer player from Liberia, and his mother, Clar, is from Jamaica. In 2018, his father was elected as the 25th President of Liberia.
Timothy has two older siblings, George Jr. and Tita. He grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and Pembroke Pines, Florida. Timothy speaks both English and French. He is good friends with other soccer players like Tyler Adams, Jonathan David, and Angel Gomes. His cousin, Kyle Duncan, also plays professional soccer.
Timothy's Soccer Journey
Starting Out in Youth Soccer
Timothy learned to play soccer from his father. He played for West Pines United in Florida. Later, he moved back to New York and joined the Rosedale Soccer Club, which his uncle owned. Weah played for BW Gottschee for three seasons. This team was part of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. In 2013, he moved to the New York Red Bulls Academy.
When he was 13, Timothy had a tryout with Chelsea. In 2014, he moved to France to join the Paris Saint-Germain Academy. In his very first game with the academy team, he scored three goals! This helped PSG win 8–1 against Ludogorets Razgrad in the UEFA Youth League.
Playing for Paris Saint-Germain

On July 3, 2017, Timothy Weah signed a three-year professional contract with Paris Saint-Germain. This was the same club his father played for in the 1990s. Timothy spent most of his first season playing for the reserve team and the under-19 squad.
He joined the main team for a league game against Troyes on March 3, 2018. He came into the game as a substitute and almost scored a goal. Weah made his first start for Paris Saint-Germain in a game against Caen. He scored his first goal for PSG in a 4–0 win against Monaco on August 4, 2018. A week later, he scored his first league goal in a 3–0 win over Caen.
In January 2019, Timothy joined Celtic in Scotland on a six-month loan. He said he "loved" the club. He made his first appearance on January 19 and scored a goal in a 3–0 win. His second goal for Celtic came in a 4–0 victory over St Mirren. With Celtic, he won the Scottish Premiership. His loan ended early because he was chosen to play for the US team in the Under-20 World Cup.
Time with Lille OSC

On June 29, 2019, Weah signed a five-year contract with Lille. The transfer fee was reported to be about €10 million. He played his first game for Lille on August 11, helping them win 2–1 against Nantes. Timothy played only three games in the 2019–20 season because he had two hamstring injuries. These injuries kept him out for most of the season.
Weah returned from injury during the 2020–21 season. He scored his first goal for Lille in a Europa League game against his old club, Celtic. On December 16, he scored his first league goal for Lille, helping them win 2–0 against Dijon. He played 28 games and scored three goals as Lille won their first league title in ten years. On August 1, 2021, Lille won the 2021 Trophée des Champions against PSG.
On March 19, 2022, Weah was sent off in a game against Nantes. He scored again on May 14 in a 3–1 win against Nice. A week later, he scored two goals in a 2–2 tie with Rennes.
Joining Juventus
After four seasons with Lille, Weah joined the Italian club Juventus on July 1, 2023. He signed a five-year contract. The transfer fee was about €10.3 million.
On January 4, 2024, Weah scored his first goal for Juventus in a big 6–1 win against Salernitana in the 2023–24 Coppa Italia. Juventus went on to win the Coppa Italia, beating Atalanta in the final. As of July 2025, he has played 60 games and scored 5 goals for Juventus.
Playing for His Country
Timothy Weah could have played for France, Jamaica, or Liberia because of his family and where he lived. But he chose to play for the United States. He said it was an easy choice because he loves the country and his teammates.
Youth National Teams
Weah played for several United States youth teams. He was called up to the under-14 team in 2012. He joined the under-15 team for a tournament in Italy and scored the winning goal in the final against Austria.
He also played for the under-17 team. He helped them win the Montaigu Tournament by scoring in the final against France. Weah was part of the under-17 squad that finished second in the 2017 CONCACAF U-17 Championship.
Timothy was chosen to play for the United States at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup in India. In one game, he scored three goals against Paraguay! This was the first time an American male player scored three goals in a World Cup knockout stage game. Weah also played in the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland, scoring two goals.
Senior National Team
Weah made his first appearance for the senior United States national team on March 27, 2018. This was in a friendly game against Paraguay. He was the first player born in the 2000s to play for the United States senior team. On May 28, 2018, he scored his first international goal against Bolivia. He became the fourth-youngest player to score for the United States.
On June 6, 2021, Weah helped the US team win the 2021 CONCACAF Nations League Final against Mexico. He scored his first goal in a competitive international game on November 16, 2021, against Jamaica. He was part of the team that reached the last 16 at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He scored a goal against Wales in their first group game.
Weah was part of the American team for the 2024 Copa América. In a game against Panama, he received a red card. After this game, Weah and some teammates faced unfair treatment.
Club Ownership
On May 28, 2024, it was announced that Timothy Weah joined the ownership group of Brooklyn Football Club. This is an American second-division soccer team.
