Thomas P. Tiffany (born December 30, 1957) is an American businessman and politician. He currently serves as a U.S. Representative for Wisconsin's 7th congressional district. He won a special election in 2020 to take on this role. Before joining the U.S. House, he was a member of the Republican Party. He spent seven years in the Wisconsin Senate and two years in the State Assembly. These roles involved representing the northeastern part of Wisconsin.

Early Life and Education
Tom Tiffany was born in Wabasha, Minnesota. He grew up on a dairy farm near Elmwood, in Pierce County, Wisconsin. He lived there with his five brothers and two sisters.
He finished high school at Elmwood High School in 1976. Later, in 1980, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. This degree was in agricultural economics from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls.
Career Before Congress
Before becoming a U.S. Representative, Tom Tiffany worked in business. He managed the petroleum part of a farm cooperative in Plainview, Minnesota. In 1988, he moved to Minocqua, Wisconsin. There, he managed how Zenker Oil Company distributed petroleum.
Since 1991, he and his wife, Chris, have run a boat tour business. This business operates on the Willow Flowage.
Early Political Roles
Tiffany served as the Town Supervisor for Little Rice, Wisconsin, from 2009 to 2013. He was also a member of the Oneida County Economic Development Corporation. This group helps the economy in Oneida County.
He ran for the Wisconsin State Senate in 2004 and 2008. He lost both times in close elections. In 2010, he ran for the Wisconsin State Assembly. He won that election, defeating his opponent Jay Schmelling.
In 2012, Tiffany decided to run for the Senate again instead of the Assembly. He won this election, defeating Susan Sommer.
Serving in the U.S. House of Representatives
Becoming a Representative
In 2019, the previous Representative, Sean Duffy, resigned. This created an open spot in Wisconsin's 7th congressional district. Tom Tiffany announced he would run in the special election to fill this seat.
He won the Republican primary election on February 18, 2020. Then, he won the special election on May 12, 2020. He defeated Tricia Zunker, an attorney from Wausau.
Tiffany was officially sworn into office on May 19, 2020. He won a rematch against Tricia Zunker in the general election on November 3, 2020, with 60.7% of the votes. He was re-elected in 2022 and 2024.
Key Votes and Actions
In December 2020, Tiffany was one of many Republican members of the House who supported a lawsuit. This lawsuit challenged the results of the 2020 United States presidential election. The Supreme Court did not hear the case.
Tiffany also objected to counting some electoral votes from the 2020 presidential election. This happened during the official counting process in Congress.
In June 2021, Tiffany voted against a law to make June 19, known as Juneteenth, a federal holiday.

Foreign Policy Views
- Iraq: In June 2021, Tiffany voted to end a law that allowed military force against Iraq.
- Taiwan: Tiffany believes the United States should officially recognize Taiwan as a country. He has written articles and introduced laws to support this idea. In 2024, he introduced laws supporting Taiwan's involvement in the World Health Organization. He also supported laws to allow more communication with Taiwanese officials. These laws were passed by Congress.
- Syria: In 2023, Tiffany voted for a resolution that asked President Joe Biden to remove U.S. troops from Syria within 180 days.
- Russia: In March 2024, Tiffany voted against a resolution. This resolution condemned Russia's abduction of Ukrainian children during the Russo-Ukrainian War.
Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023
Tiffany was among the Republicans who voted against the final approval of the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023. This act dealt with government spending and debt.
