Tomorrow X Together (Hangul: 투모로우바이투게더, Japanese: トゥモローバイトゥギャザー), often called TXT (tee-EKS-tee), is a popular five-member South Korean boy band. They were formed by Big Hit Music, the same company behind BTS. The group includes members Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and HueningKai.

TXT officially started their music journey on March 4, 2019, with their first mini-album, The Dream Chapter: Star. This album quickly became number one on the Gaon Album Chart in Korea and the Billboard World Albums Chart in the US. It even reached number 140 on the US Billboard 200 chart, which was a big achievement for a new K-pop boy group at the time. Their main song from the album, "Crown", also topped the World Digital Songs chart. TXT quickly became known as one of the fastest K-pop groups to appear on these important music charts.

Because of their quick success, TXT won many "New Artist of the Year" awards. These included honors at the 34th Golden Disc Awards, the 2019 Melon Music Awards, and the 2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards.

What Does TXT Mean?

TXT is short for "Tomorrow X Together." In Korean, their name is "Hangul: 투모로우바이투게더", which means "Tomorrow By Together." They don't have a separate Korean name.

The group's website explains that "Tomorrow by Together" means five people coming together with one dream. They hope to build a better tomorrow together. In an early interview, the members said they prefer to be called by their full name, Tomorrow X Together, rather than just TXT.

How TXT Started

Getting Ready to Debut

Big Hit Music had plans for a new boy group as early as 2017. In November 2018, they set a debut date for early 2019. TXT was officially introduced to the public on January 10, 2019. Over the next ten days, special "introduction films" were released on YouTube, showing each member for the first time.

2019: First Albums and Big Success

TXT was the first boy band to debut under Big Hit Entertainment in six years, after BTS. Their debut mini-album, The Dream Chapter: Star, was released on March 4, 2019. A special show was broadcast on Mnet and YouTube to celebrate their debut.

The music video for their first song, "Crown," got 14.5 million views on YouTube in just 24 hours. This set a new record for a K-pop boy group's debut music video! The album quickly became number one on the Gaon Album Chart and the Billboard World Albums Chart. "Crown" also topped the Billboard World Digital Songs Chart. The group even reached No. 1 on the Billboard Emerging Artists chart and No. 140 on the Billboard 200 chart. This made them the fastest K-pop group to appear on these charts with their first album.

TXT had their first music show performance on March 7, 2019, on Mnet's M Countdown. They won their very first music show award for "Crown" on SBS MTV's The Show just one week after their debut. They also won on M Countdown and Show Champion soon after.

On April 9, 2019, TXT announced their first tour in the United States. They visited six cities: New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, Orlando, and Atlanta. All tickets for these shows sold out in less than 24 hours! After their US tour, TXT performed at the 2019 iHeartRadio Wango Tango music concert in Los Angeles. They also performed at two big fashion festivals in Japan, making them the first Korean artists to perform at both in the same season. In July, TXT performed at KCON 2019 NY in New York, in front of 55,000 fans. They even got their first MTV Video Music Award nomination for "Best K-pop."

Later in 2019, TXT released their first full studio album, The Dream Chapter: Magic, on October 21. The main song was "9 and Three Quarters (Run Away)." This album included different music styles like R&B, tropical house, and hip hop. It also topped the Gaon Album Chart, selling over 124,000 copies in its first week. This was their second album to reach number one. Billboard and Dazed magazines both called "9 and Three Quarters (Run Away)" one of the best K-pop songs of the year.

2020: Japanese Music and New Albums

On January 15, 2020, TXT made their official Japanese debut with a single called "Magic Hour." This single included Japanese versions of their songs "Run Away," "Crown," and "Angel or Devil." It quickly reached number one on the Oricon daily chart in Japan. "Magic Hour" was even certified gold in Japan for selling 100,000 copies.

TXT released their second mini-album, The Dream Chapter: Eternity, on May 18, with the song "Can't You See Me?" as the lead single. This album sold over 181,000 copies in its first week and became number one on the Oricon Albums Chart in Japan. In July 2020, the album received a platinum certification in Korea, meaning it sold over 250,000 copies. Their previous albums, The Dream Chapter: Star and The Dream Chapter: Magic, also received platinum certifications later that year.

On July 20, 2020, TXT's leader, Soobin, became a new host for the TV show Music Bank on KBS2.

On August 19, TXT released their second Japanese single, "Drama." This single included Japanese versions of "Drama" and "Can't You See Me?", plus their first original Japanese song, "Everlasting Shine." "Everlasting Shine" became the opening theme song for the anime Black Clover.

TXT released their third mini-album, Minisode1: Blue Hour, on October 26. The main song was "Blue Hour." This album sold over 300,000 copies in its first week. In the United States, it debuted at number 25 on the Billboard 200 chart and was the top-selling album that week. It also reached number one on the Oricon Albums Chart in Japan. This album also received a platinum certification in Korea.

2021: More Albums and Global Charts

Their first full Japanese album, Still Dreaming, came out on January 20, 2021. It included a new Japanese song called "Force," which became the opening theme for the anime World Trigger. Still Dreaming reached number one on the Japanese Oricon Albums Chart and was certified gold. This album also made it to number 173 on the Billboard 200, making TXT only the second Korean group to have a Japanese album on this US chart.

On May 31, TXT released their second full studio album, The Chaos Chapter: Freeze. The main song was "0X1=Lovesong (I Know I Love You)," featuring Seori. Before the album was even released, it had over 700,000 pre-orders! The Chaos Chapter: Freeze debuted at number 5 on the Billboard 200 chart, which was their highest spot yet in the United States. It also reached number one on the Oricon Albums Chart in Japan. In July, The Chaos Chapter: Freeze was certified Gold in Japan, making it TXT's first Korean album to get a certification there.

On August 17, 2021, TXT released a new version of their second studio album, called The Chaos Chapter: Fight or Escape.
