Enhypen (Hangul: 엔하이픈; RR: Enhaipeun) is a popular South Korean boy band. The group was created by Belift Lab and has seven talented members: Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-Ki.

Enhypen was formed in 2020 through a TV show called I-Land. They officially started their music journey on November 30, 2020, with their first album, Border: Day One.

What Does Enhypen Mean?

The name Enhypen was revealed during the final episode of the I-Land show. It comes from the hyphen symbol (-).

Just like a hyphen connects different words to make new meanings, Enhypen wants to "connect, discover, and grow together" as a group. They aim to create something new and exciting in music.

Enhypen's Journey in Music

How Enhypen Was Formed

In 2019, two big entertainment companies, CJ E&M and Hybe Corporation, teamed up to create Belift Lab. Their goal was to form a new K-pop group. They held auditions in many places, looking for young male trainees.

On May 8, 2020, a TV show called I-Land was announced. This show would follow the journey of future K-pop stars. Enhypen was formed through this show, which featured 23 trainees.

The show aired weekly from June to September 2020. In the final episode, seven members were chosen to form Enhypen. These members were Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-Ki.

Starting Their Career: 2020–2021

On October 22, 2020, Enhypen announced their debut with a trailer. Their first album, Border: Day One, was released on November 30. Even before their debut, the group gained over a million followers on social media!

Their first album quickly sold over 300,000 copies. It became the best-selling album by a K-pop group that debuted in 2020. Soon after their debut, Enhypen won the Next Leader Award at the Fact Music Awards. In February 2021, their album received a platinum award, which was their first big award in Korea.

Their second album, Border: Carnival, was released in April 2021. It quickly had over 450,000 pre-orders. Enhypen won their first music show award with this album. Border: Carnival also reached number one on the Japanese Oricon Albums Chart and made it to number 18 on the US Billboard 200 chart.

In July 2021, Enhypen released their first Japanese single, Border: Hakanai. They also worked with the cartoon Tayo the Little Bus to remake its theme song.

In October 2021, Enhypen released their first full studio album, Dimension: Dilemma. This album sold over 1.1 million copies, making it their first "million-selling" album! It also reached number 11 on the Billboard 200 chart.
