Anton "Toni" Polster (born March 10, 1964) is a famous Austrian football coach and former player. He is known as the top goal scorer for the Austrian national team, with 44 goals. Fans often called him "Toni Doppelpack," which means "Toni Brace." This nickname came from his amazing ability to score two goals in one match!

Toni Polster's Football Journey
Early Days and Club Success
Toni Polster started his professional football career at just 18 years old. He joined the Austria Wien youth system in 1973. In August 1982, he played his first professional league game. Just three weeks later, he scored his first goal in the Bundesliga, which is Austria's top football league.
During his time with Austria Wien, Toni helped his team win three league titles. They also won a domestic cup. He was a very successful player in Austria.
Playing Abroad: Italy, Spain, and Germany
After his success in Austria, Toni moved to play in other countries. He spent a season in Italy with Torino. Then, he played for five years in Spain. He played for teams like Sevilla, Logroñés, and Rayo Vallecano. In 1990, he was the second-highest goal scorer in Spain.
In 1993, Toni moved to Germany to play for Köln. He played there for five years. After that, he joined Borussia Mönchengladbach. Finally, he returned to Austria to play his last season with Austria Salzburg.
Toni Polster was recognized for his amazing skills. In 2001, he was chosen for Austria's Team of the Century. He was also named the Austrian Sportsman of the Year in 1997.
Playing for the Austrian National Team
Toni Polster also had a great career playing for his country. In 1983, he played for the Austria U20 team in the 1983 FIFA World Youth Championship. He made his debut for the senior Austrian national team in November 1982. In that game, Austria won 4–0 against Turkey, and Toni scored his first goal right away!
He played in two World Cups: in 1990 and 1998. Toni played in 95 international matches for Austria. He scored a record-breaking 44 goals. In November 1996, he broke the previous goal-scoring record by scoring his 35th goal against Latvia.
His last official international game was thought to be a 1998 World Cup match against Italy. However, he had a special farewell match in September 2000 against Iran. He was substituted in the 21st minute of that game. His record for most appearances for Austria was later broken by Andreas Herzog in 2002.
Toni Polster's Coaching Career
After his playing career, Toni Polster became a football coach. He started coaching in January 2010. His first job was coaching the reserve team at LASK Linz.
In June 2011, he became the head coach of SC Wiener Viktoria. This team played in the fifth-tier league in Austria. During his first year, he helped the team get promoted to the fourth tier. The next year, they moved up to the Austrian Regional League.
On June 17, 2013, Toni took on his first coaching role in the Austrian Bundesliga, which is Austria's top league. He became the head coach of Admira Wacker Mödling. However, after three straight losses, he was fired on August 9, 2013. Toni returned to coach SC Wiener Viktoria on January 13, 2014.
Personal Life
Toni Polster has two children, Anton and Lisa-Marie, from his first marriage. He later married Birgit in 2018.
