Tonny Bruins Slot (born April 1, 1947 – died November 1, 2020) was a famous Dutch association football coach. He was known for being very good at studying matches and figuring out what other teams would do.

Tonny Bruins Slot's Football Journey
Tonny Bruins Slot started his coaching career at FC Amsterdam. He was their coach from 1978 to 1980. After that, he moved to Ajax, a very well-known club in Amsterdam.
Working with Ajax
From 1982 to 1988, Bruins Slot was an assistant coach at Ajax. He worked with coach Aad de Mos. In 1985, something big happened. Aad de Mos left Ajax, and Tonny Bruins Slot became the head coach for a short time. He led Ajax for the last five games of the season.
During this time, Ajax won the Eredivisie title in the 1984–85 season. This team had many future stars. Some of these players were Frank Rijkaard, Ronald Koeman, Marco van Basten, and John van 't Schip.
Teaming Up with Johan Cruyff
Later in 1985, Tonny Bruins Slot became the assistant to the legendary Johan Cruyff at Ajax. They worked together until 1988. In 1987, they achieved a great victory. They won the European Cup Winners' Cup. This was a major European trophy.
From 1988 to 1996, Bruins Slot followed Johan Cruyff to FC Barcelona in Spain. He was Cruyff's trusted assistant there. This period was very successful for Barcelona.

Working with Ronald Koeman

Return to the Netherlands
On May 17, 2009, Tonny Bruins Slot returned to the Netherlands. He became an assistant manager at AZ. His main job there was to analyze other teams. He would study their tactics to help AZ prepare. However, he and head coach Ronald Koeman were both dismissed on December 5, 2009.
Later, on January 26, 2011, Bruins Slot took on a new role at Ajax. He became an analyst for the team. He would create detailed reports on upcoming opponents for the head coach, Frank de Boer. This helped Ajax prepare for their matches.
Tonny Bruins Slot passed away on November 1, 2020, at the age of 73. He left behind a legacy of great football knowledge and success.
