Tool is found in the northwestern part of Henderson County. It sits right on the western edge of Cedar Creek Lake. The main road that goes through the city is Texas State Highway 274. This road leads northwest about 4 miles to Seven Points. It also goes southeast about 9 miles to Trinidad. Athens, which is the main town of Henderson County, is about 24 miles southeast of Tool by road.
