Trayvon Jaquez Bromell (born July 10, 1995) is an American professional track and field athlete. He is known for his incredible speed in sprinting events. Trayvon has won bronze medals in the 100-meter race at the 2015 and 2022 World Championships.

He was also the 2016 World Indoor 60-meter champion. Trayvon Bromell represented the United States at the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He made history as the first junior runner to finish the 100-meter race in under 10 seconds. His time of 9.97 seconds was a former junior world record.

Trayvon's fastest times are 6.42 seconds in the 60 meters and 9.76 seconds in the 100 meters. These amazing speeds make him one of the fastest men ever in these events. In 2022, he became the 2022 Diamond League 100-meter champion.

Trayvon Bromell's Sprinting Journey

Early Career and High School Success (2013)

In May 2013, Trayvon Bromell was still in high school at Gibbs High School in St. Petersburg, Florida. He won the 100-meter race at the Florida High School State Finals. He also placed second in the 200 meters.

Later that year, Trayvon competed in the New Balance Nationals Outdoor event. He won the 100-meter final despite strong headwinds. He also set new personal bests in the 200-meter race. A few days later, he won his first USATF title in the 100 meters at the USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Because of his great performance, Trayvon was named the Gatorade Track and Field Athlete of the Year for 2013. He then represented the United States at the 2013 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships in Colombia. There, he won a bronze medal in the 100 meters and a gold medal in the 4 × 100-meter relay.

Setting Junior World Records (2014)

On March 29, 2014, Trayvon Bromell tied the world junior record for the 100 meters. He ran 10.01 seconds at the Texas Relays while running for Baylor University. He was named the "2014 Texas Relays Most Outstanding Performer."

A few months later, on June 13, 2014, Trayvon ran an even faster time of 9.97 seconds in the 100-meter final at the NCAA Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. This time officially made him the sole holder of the men's 100-meter junior world record. He was the first freshman since 2005 to win this NCAA title.

World Championships Debut (2015)

In 2015, Trayvon continued to improve his times. At the 2015 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in June, he ran a personal best of 9.84 seconds in the 100 meters. This made him one of the fastest 100-meter runners of all time. He finished second in the final, which qualified him for the 2015 World Championships in Athletics.

At the World Championships in Beijing, China, Trayvon won a bronze medal in the 100 meters. He tied with another runner, Andre De Grasse, in a very exciting finish. This was the first time in World Championship 100-meter history that two athletes tied for a medal. He also ran in the 4 × 100-meter relay, where his team initially won a silver medal. However, they were later disqualified due to a mistake during a baton pass. After this successful year, Trayvon decided to become a professional athlete and signed a deal with New Balance.

Olympic Dreams and Challenges (2016)

The year 2016 was a big one for Trayvon, as he aimed for an Olympic gold medal. He started the year strong by winning the 60-meter title at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships in his home country.

Later, he competed at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Oregon. He finished second in the 100 meters, which earned him a spot on the U.S. Olympic team for the Rio Olympics.

At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil, Trayvon competed in both the 100 meters and the 4 × 100-meter relay. He made it to the 100-meter final, finishing eighth. In the relay, his team finished third, but they were again disqualified due to an illegal baton pass. During the relay, Trayvon suffered an Achilles tendon injury, which was a tough setback.

Road to Recovery and Return to Form (2017 & 2021)

After the 2016 Olympics, Trayvon focused on recovering from his injury. He raced very little in 2017 to give his body time to heal properly.

In 2021, Trayvon Bromell made an amazing comeback. He ran a personal best and the world's fastest time that year in the 100 meters, clocking 9.77 seconds. He then won the 2021 Olympic Trials, securing his place at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

At the Tokyo Olympics, Trayvon competed in the 100 meters but narrowly missed making the final. Later that year, in September, he set a new personal best of 9.76 seconds in a race in Kenya.

Recent Achievements (2022)

In 2022, Trayvon continued to show his speed. He won the 2022 Diamond League 100-meter championship, which is a major achievement in professional track and field. He also earned another bronze medal in the 100 meters at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, United States.
