Trefl S.A. is a family-owned company from Sopot, Poland, that makes jigsaw puzzles, board games, and toys. It is one of the biggest puzzle makers in Europe.
The company does more than just make toys. The Trefl group also includes:
- Studio Trefl: A studio that creates animated television series.
- Wydawnictwo Trefl: A publisher that makes children's books.
- Baltic Media Group: A media company that produces commercials and videos.
Trefl also gets permission to use famous characters from companies like Disney, Hasbro, and Mattel on its puzzles and games. This is called brand licensing.
The History of Trefl
Trefl was started in 1985 by a man named Kazimierz Wierzbicki. At first, the company only made jigsaw puzzles. By 1989, Trefl was allowed to sell its products in other countries.
A major step for the company came in 1991 when it began working with Disney. This allowed Trefl to create puzzles and games featuring popular Disney characters. In 2004, the company started making cool 3D puzzles.
In 1998, Trefl also bought a large part of a playing card factory in Kraków. Today, that factory is known as the Trefl Playing Card Company.
Sponsoring Sports Teams
