Trevante Nemour Rhodes (born February 10, 1990) is an American actor. He became well-known in 2016 for his role as "Black" (the adult Chiron) in the Academy Award-winning movie Moonlight. Since then, he has appeared in other films like The Predator (2018), Bird Box (2018), and The United States vs. Billie Holiday (2021). When he was younger, Trevante was a talented track and field sprinter. He even won a gold medal at the Pan American Junior Athletics Championships in 2009.

Early Life and Education
Trevante Rhodes was born in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. His parents are Demour Dangelo and Jessi Rhodes. When he was ten years old, his family moved to Little Elm, Texas. He has one brother named Giovanni.
High School Sports
At Little Elm High School, Trevante was a great athlete. He played running back in football and was also a left cornerback. He earned four letters in both football and track and field during his high school years.
As a sprinter, he focused on the 100-meter and 200-meter dash. In 2007, he finished second in both races at the UIL Track and Field Championships.
College and Track Success
Even though an injury cut his senior year of football short, Trevante received a sports scholarship. He went to the University of Texas at Austin to study kinesiology.
From 2008 to 2012, Rhodes competed as a sprinter for the Texas Longhorns. In 2009, he helped the U.S. team win a gold medal in the 4×100 metres relay at the 2009 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
Acting Career
Early Roles (2012–2015)
After finishing college, Trevante Rhodes started his acting career. He appeared in several films and TV shows. These included the film Ingoma and Open Windows, where he acted alongside Elijah Wood. He also appeared in Shangri-La Suite and The Night Is Young.
Trevante played the character Ramsey in the TV series If Loving You Is Wrong. He also had roles in the Fox series Gang Related and the HBO series Westworld.
Breakthrough with Moonlight (2016)

Trevante became very famous for his praised performance in the 2016 film Moonlight. He played the adult version of the main character, Chiron.
In an interview about the movie, Rhodes shared how important the film's story was. He felt the movie could help people understand different experiences. Moonlight won the Golden Globe Award for Best Picture – Drama. It also won the Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.
Recent Projects (2017–Present)
In 2017, Trevante was part of Calvin Klein's underwear campaign. He appeared with other Moonlight stars like Mahershala Ali and Ashton Sanders. Later that year, he was in Jay-Z's music video for "Family Feud".
In 2018, Rhodes co-starred in the science fiction action film The Predator. He also appeared in the exciting thriller Bird Box.
In 2022, he played the famous boxer Mike Tyson in the Hulu miniseries Mike. More recently, in 2024, he starred in Mea Culpa with Kelly Rowland. This movie, directed by Tyler Perry, was released on Netflix in February 2024.
