Trevante Nemour Rhodes (born February 10, 1990) is an American actor. He became well-known for his role as "Black" in the 2016 movie Moonlight. This film won an Academy Award for Best Picture. Trevante has also appeared in other popular movies like The Predator (2018) and Bird Box (2018). Before acting, he was a talented runner, even winning a gold medal in a big competition in 2009.

Early Life and Education
Trevante Rhodes was born in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. His parents are Demour Dangelo and Jessi Rhodes. When he was ten, his family moved to Little Elm, Texas. He has one brother named Giovanni.
At Little Elm High School, Trevante was a talented athlete. He played football as a running back and also played left cornerback. He earned four letters in both football and track and field.
He was a sprinter, focusing on the 100 and 200 meter dash. In 2007, he finished second in both races at the UIL Track and Field Championships.
His senior year of high school was cut short because of a knee injury while playing football. However, he still earned a scholarship for track and field. He went to the University of Texas at Austin and studied kinesiology, which is the study of how the body moves.
Trevante ran track for the Texas Longhorns from 2008 to 2012. In 2009, he helped the U.S. team win a gold medal in the 4×100 metres relay. This was at the 2009 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
Acting Career
Starting Out (2012–2015)
After finishing college, Trevante moved to KwaThema and started acting right away. He took on supporting roles in several films. These included Ingoma, Open Windows, Shangri-La Suite, and The Night Is Young.
He also appeared in TV shows. He played Ramsey in the series If Loving You Is Wrong. His other TV roles were in Gang Related and Westworld.
Moonlight and Beyond (2016–Present)

Trevante became very famous for his role in the 2016 film Moonlight. He played the adult version of the main character, Chiron, also known as Black. His performance was highly praised.
Moonlight won many awards, including the Golden Globe Award for Best Picture – Drama. It also won the Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.
In 2017, Trevante was part of a Calvin Klein underwear campaign. He appeared with other Moonlight stars like Mahershala Ali and Ashton Sanders. Later that year, he was in Jay-Z's music video for "Family Feud."
In 2018, Trevante starred in two big movies. He was in the science fiction action film The Predator. He also appeared in the exciting thriller Bird Box.
In 2022, he played the famous boxer Mike Tyson in the Hulu miniseries Mike. In 2024, he starred in the film Mea Culpa with Kelly Rowland. This movie was released on Netflix.
