Triei is a small town, also called a comune, in the Sardinia region of Italy. It is located in the province of Nuoro. About 1,000 people live here.
The town is about 100 kilometers (62 miles) northeast of Cagliari. It is also about 11 kilometers (7 miles) north of Tortolì. Triei shares its borders with several other towns. These include Baunei, Lotzorai, Talana, and Urzulei.

When Was Triei First Mentioned?
The name "Triei" was first written down in a document from 1316. At that time, it was part of an old kingdom called the Giudicato of Cagliari. Later, it became part of the Giudicato of Gallura.
Who Ruled Triei Through History?
Over the centuries, different groups ruled Triei.
- First, it was under the control of Pisa.
- Then, in 1323, the Aragonese took over.
- In 1479, Spain began to rule the area.
- Later, in 1708, Austria was in charge.
- Finally, in 1720, it became part of the Piedmont region.
The Lost Village of Osono
There was once an old village called Osono. It was located on the Osono plateau. We know about this village from records dating back to 1217.
