Trinity is a city located in Trinity County, Texas, United States. In 2020, about 2,343 people lived there. It's a small city with a rich history.

History
Trinity was started in 1872. It was built on land bought from the New York and Texas Land Company. The town grew around a train station for the Houston and Great Northern Railroad.
The town was first called Trinity Station, named after the Trinity River. Later, its name changed to Trinity City, and then simply Trinity. The town officially became a city in 1910.
Civilian Conservation Corps
On June 8, 1933, a camp for the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was set up near Trinity. The CCC was a program during the Great Depression that gave young men jobs. They worked on projects like building roads and telephone lines to help prevent forest fires.
Texas Long Leaf Lumber Company
In 1907, the Thompson Brothers' Lumber Company built a large sawmill in Trinity. This mill was later bought by the Texas Long Leaf Lumber Company in 1922. For many years, this company was very successful at making lumber from Yellow Pine and other trees.
During World War II, the mill produced a lot of lumber, helping with the war effort. It was one of the biggest employers in Trinity. When the mill closed in 1955, it had a big impact on the town's economy.
A Historical Conflict
On August 7, 1872, a disagreement happened at John Gates' Saloon involving John Wesley Hardin and Phil Sublet. After a brief peace, the conflict continued in the streets and a dry goods store. This event is a notable part of Trinity's early history.
Geography
Trinity covers about 3.8 square miles (9.8 square kilometers) of land. It is located about 80 miles (129 km) north of Houston.
Milltown was a community on the edge of Trinity. It was where the workers for the town's lumber mill lived. It had many houses, separated for white and Black workers.

Old Red Schoolhouse
The Old Red Schoolhouse was finished in 1915. This special building was a school for 80 years. When it was planned to be torn down in the 1990s, people who cared about its history worked to save it. It is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Students in Trinity attend schools in the Trinity Independent School District. The city also has a public library called the Blanche K. Werner Public Library.

CHI St. Luke's Health-Memorial Clinics opened a clinic in Trinity on August 7, 2017. This clinic provides outpatient care. There are plans for a local hospital to reopen in the future.
Post Office
Trinity's post office was first set up on February 28, 1872. The building used today was finished in August 1941. It helps the community send and receive mail.
