The Trinity Mountains are a group of mountains in northern California. They are part of a bigger mountain system called the Klamath Mountains. These mountains stretch across Siskiyou County and Trinity County. The beautiful Shasta-Trinity National Forest helps protect these mountains.

Exploring the Trinity Mountains
The Trinity Mountains run for about 30 to 35 miles (48 to 56 km). They go from the southwest to the northeast. You can find them between two large lakes: Trinity Lake and Shasta Lake. They are about 17 miles (27 km) northwest of the city of Redding.
Mountain Heights
The mountains in the southwest are about 4,000 feet (1,219 meters) high. As you go northeast, the peaks get taller. Some reach over 7,200 feet (2,195 meters). The tallest mountain in the range is Mount Eddy. It stands at 9,037 feet (2,754 meters) tall. Mount Eddy is the highest point in this part of the Pacific Coast Ranges.

Nature in the Trinity Mountains
The Trinity Mountains have many large forests. These forests are home to different types of trees.
Trees of the Trinity Mountains
You can find stands of Black Oak (Quercus kelloggii). There are also Blue Oak (Quercus douglasii) trees. Another common tree is the Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii). The Blue Oak trees here are special. They are a unique group of this tree species found only in California.
