Geography of Trumann
Trumann is found in a flat area of Arkansas called the Arkansas Delta. The city covers about 4.8 square miles (12.4 km²), and all of it is land.
Natural Surroundings
Trumann is in an area known as the St. Francis Lowlands. This region is mostly flat with very rich soil. Today, much of the land is used for farming. You can still see some sandy areas and sunken lands from the big 1811–12 New Madrid earthquakes that happened long ago.
Many of the natural waterways here have been changed into straight channels. This has caused some loss of places where water animals and plants used to live. East of Trumann, along the St. Francis River, is the St. Francis Sunken Lands Wildlife Management Area. This special area helps protect some of the original forests that once covered this region.
Roads and Highways
Interstate 555 goes right through Trumann. Another important road, U.S. Route 63, used to run through the city. However, it was moved to a new path in October 2021.
