The Type 91 105 mm howitzer (九一式十糎榴弾砲, Kyūisshiki Jissenchi Ryudanho) was a powerful cannon used by the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA). It was sometimes called a "10-cm" gun because of the size of its barrel. This type of weapon is called a howitzer, which is a kind of artillery that fires shells in a high arc. This makes it good for shooting over hills or buildings.

How it was Made and Used
Designing the Howitzer
The Type 91 howitzer was designed between 1927 and 1931. It was made to be a light howitzer, meaning it was easier to move around than heavier cannons. The main factory that built these weapons was the Osaka Arsenal in Japan.
Key Features
The Type 91 howitzer weighed about 1,500 kilograms (around 3,300 pounds). It could fire shells that weighed about 15.7 kilograms (about 34.6 pounds). These shells could travel very fast, up to 546 meters per second (about 1,791 feet per second). The howitzer could shoot its shells a long way, up to 10,771 meters (about 11,770 yards). It could fire between 6 and 8 shells every minute.
Where it was Used in Wars
Major Conflicts
The Type 91 howitzer was used in several big wars. It played a part in the Second Sino-Japanese War, which happened before World War II. It was also used during World War II itself. After World War II, some of these howitzers were used in the Chinese Civil War.
Who Used It
The main user of the Type 91 howitzer was the Imperial Japanese Army. However, after World War II, some of these guns were captured and used by other armies. This included the National Revolutionary Army of the Republic of China and the People's Liberation Army of the People's Republic of China.
