Tyrone Ellis (born October 5, 1977) is an American-Georgian professional basketball coach and former player. He is currently an assistant coach for the Las Vegas Aces in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). Ellis is 1.93 meters (6 feet 4 inches) tall. He played as a shooting guard, which is a player who specializes in scoring points. He was the first head coach for both the Northern Arizona Suns and the Stockton Kings, which are teams in the NBA G League.

Tyrone Ellis was born in Dallas, Texas. He went to Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma. He finished his studies there in 2001.
Professional Playing Career
After college, Ellis played professional basketball for many years. He played in several different countries.
- In the United States, he played for the Huntsville Flight.
- In Germany, he played for the Frankfurt Skyliners.
- He also played in Turkey for Beşiktaş Cola Turka.
- In Italy, he was part of Basket Napoli.

Early Assistant Coaching Roles
He worked as an assistant coach for the Tulsa 66ers, Reno Bighorns, and Grand Rapids Drive. In October 2015, he became an assistant coach for the Bakersfield Jam in the NBA Development League.
Leading the Northern Arizona Suns
In July 2016, Ellis was promoted to head coach for the Northern Arizona Suns. This team was previously the Bakersfield Jam. In his first season, his team started very strong. They won 10 out of their first 11 games. However, the team finished the season with a record of 22 wins and 28 losses.
Coaching for Team USA
In July 2017, Ellis was chosen to be an assistant coach for Team USA Basketball. They competed in the 2017 FIBA AmeriCup. Under head coach Jeff Van Gundy, Team USA won every game. They took home the FIBA AmeriCup championship that year.
NBA and G League Coaching
In October 2017, Ellis became an assistant coach for the Phoenix Suns. This happened when one of their assistant coaches was promoted. In 2018, he was named the first head coach for the Stockton Kings. This team had just moved to Stockton. As of November 2024, Ellis joined the Las Vegas Aces as an assistant coach for Becky Hammon.
Playing for Georgia's National Team
Tyrone Ellis also played for the Georgia national basketball team. He was a member of the team from 2006 to 2009.
Eurobasket 2009 Performance
He played with the Georgian team in the Division B Eurobasket 2009 tournament. During this competition, he scored an average of 16.0 points per game. He also had 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. In the finals against Belarus, he averaged 13.5 points and 3.0 assists. His help allowed Georgia to move up to Division A in European basketball.
