Professional Playing Career
After college, Tyrone Ellis became a professional basketball player. He played for teams in several countries.

In 2015, Ellis became an assistant coach for the Bakersfield Jam. The next year, in 2016, he was promoted to head coach for the same team. The team then moved and became the Northern Arizona Suns.
During his first season as head coach, his team started very strong. They won 10 games and only lost 1. However, by the end of the season, their record was 22 wins and 28 losses.
Coaching for Team USA
In 2017, Tyrone Ellis was chosen to be an assistant coach for Team USA Basketball. This was for the 2017 FIBA AmeriCup tournament.
Team USA, led by head coach Jeff Van Gundy, won every game. They went on to win the FIBA AmeriCup championship that year.
Moving to the Phoenix Suns
Later in 2017, Ellis joined the Phoenix Suns as an assistant coach. This happened when another assistant coach, Jay Triano, became the interim head coach for the Phoenix Suns.
Leading the Stockton Kings
In 2018, Ellis was named the first head coach for the Stockton Kings. This team also plays in the NBA G League.
Joining the Las Vegas Aces
On November 7, 2024, Tyrone Ellis was hired by the Las Vegas Aces. He joined their coaching staff as an assistant coach, working with head coach Becky Hammon.
Playing for Georgia's National Team
Tyrone Ellis also played for the Georgia national basketball team. He was a member of the team from 2006 to 2009.
He played in the Division B Eurobasket 2009 tournament. In that tournament, he scored about 16 points per game. He also helped his team by getting 3.5 rebounds and 3 assists per game.
In the finals against Belarus, he scored 13.5 points and had 3 assists per game. His help allowed Georgia to move up to Division A in European basketball.
