Tyson Marcus Miller is an American professional baseball pitcher. He was born on July 29, 1995. Tyson currently plays for the Chicago Cubs organization. He has also played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for several other teams. These include the Texas Rangers, Milwaukee Brewers, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, and Seattle Mariners.

Tyson Miller's Baseball Journey

Starting in High School and College

Tyson Miller grew up in California. He went to Shadow Hills High School in Indio, California. In 2013, during his senior year, he was an amazing pitcher. He won 6 games and didn't lose any. His earned run average (ERA) was super low at 0.19. This means he rarely let other teams score runs.

After high school, Tyson went to California Baptist University. He played college baseball there. In 2014, his first year, he won 7 games and lost only 1. He had a 2.63 ERA. The next year, he continued to play well. He earned a spot on the Pacific West Conference Second Team. In 2017, he had another great year. He won 9 games and had a 2.27 ERA. He was named to the PacWest First Team.

Joining the Chicago Cubs (First Time)

The Chicago Cubs noticed Tyson's talent. They picked him in the fourth round of the 2016 MLB draft. Tyson signed with the Cubs. He started his professional career in the minor leagues. He played for teams like the Arizona League Cubs and Eugene Emeralds.

In 2017, Tyson played for the South Bend Cubs. In 2018, he moved up to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. He kept improving his pitching skills. By 2019, he was playing for the Tennessee Smokies. He was later promoted to the Iowa Cubs. He struck out 123 batters that year. After the 2019 season, the Cubs added him to their main roster.

Tyson made his big league debut on August 17, 2020. He pitched for the Chicago Cubs against the St. Louis Cardinals. He played in two games that season. In 2021, he started the season with the Triple-A Iowa Cubs.

Playing for Other MLB Teams

Tyson moved to the Texas Rangers in June 2021. He played for their Triple-A team, the Round Rock Express. In 2022, he got another chance to play for the Rangers in MLB. He earned his first career win on September 27, 2022. He pitched three and two-thirds innings without giving up any runs.

Later in 2023, Tyson was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. He pitched in one game for them. Then, he moved to the New York Mets. He made one appearance for the Mets, pitching two scoreless innings.

Tyson returned to the Los Angeles Dodgers for a second time in August 2023. He pitched in one more game for them. After that, he became a free agent.

Time with the Seattle Mariners

In November 2023, Tyson signed a contract with the Seattle Mariners. He started the 2024 season playing for their Triple-A team, the Tacoma Rainiers. He was called up to the Mariners' major league team on April 8, 2024. He pitched in 9 games for Seattle. He had a good ERA of 3.09.

Back with the Chicago Cubs (Second Time)

On May 13, 2024, Tyson Miller was traded back to the Chicago Cubs. He became an important part of their bullpen. He pitched in 49 games for the Cubs. He had a great record of 5 wins and 1 loss. His ERA was very low at 2.15. He also had 42 strikeouts and one save.

Tyson started the 2025 season on the injured list because of a hip injury. He was later activated from the injured list on June 5, 2025. He was then sent to play for the Triple-A Iowa Cubs.
