Underwood is a small city located in Otter Tail County, Minnesota, in the United States. In 2020, about 356 people lived there.

History of Underwood

Underwood was first planned out in 1881. This means its streets and building lots were officially mapped. The city was named after Adoniram Judson Underwood. He was a politician and also an editor for a newspaper called Weekly Journal.

A post office started operating in Underwood in 1884. Later, in 1912, Underwood officially became an incorporated city. This gave it its own local government.

Geography and Location

According to the United States Census Bureau, Underwood covers a total area of about 0.58 square miles (1.52 square kilometers). All of this area is land.

Underwood is located in Minnesota. You can find it between two other cities: Fergus Falls and Battle Lake. It sits right on Minnesota State Highway 210.
