Usha Bala Chilukuri Vance (born January 6, 1986) is an American lawyer. She became the Second Lady of the United States on January 20, 2025. This means she is the wife of the Vice President, JD Vance.
Usha Vance is special because she is the first Asian American and the first person of Hindu faith to hold this important role. She was born in San Diego County, California. Her parents came from India.
She studied at Yale University and Yale Law School. After law school, she worked for several important judges. These included Chief Justice John Roberts. Later, she worked at a big law firm. She helped with legal cases about education, local government, and technology.
