Vaga is a small community, also known as a barrio, located in the town of Morovis in Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 471 people lived here. Vaga is divided into three smaller areas called sectors.

History of Vaga

Puerto Rico used to be controlled by Spain. After the Spanish–American War in 1898, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened because of a special agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898.

After this, Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States. In 1899, the U.S. government counted all the people living in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. The census found that 828 people lived in Vaga barrio at that time.

Geography of Vaga

Vaga is located in the southwestern part of the town of Morovis. It shares its northern border with the San Lorenzo barrio. To its east is the Pasto barrio. Vaga's western side touches the town of Ciales.

Vaga's Sectors

In Puerto Rico, barrios are like neighborhoods or small districts. These barrios are often divided into even smaller areas. These smaller areas are called sectores (which means sectors in English).

There are different types of sectores. Some are simply called sector, while others might be called urbanización (a planned neighborhood), reparto (a land division), barriada (a settlement), or residencial (a housing project).
