Where is Pasto Located?

A Look at Pasto's History
The town of Morovis and its barrios, including Pasto, were started in 1818. This was done by Juan Evangelista Rivera, Juan José de Torres, and a group of people.
After the Spanish–American War, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States in 1898. This happened under the rules of the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became an unincorporated territory of the United States. In 1899, the United States Department of War counted the people in Puerto Rico. They found that 1,314 people lived in Pasto barrio at that time.

On September 20, 2017, Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico very hard. The heavy rains from the hurricane caused many landslides. These landslides cut off Morovis from its nearby towns. In Pasto, a huge rock and a landslide blocked the roads. This made it impossible for anyone to get into or out of the barrio. It also meant no outside help could reach them. The bridge to San Lorenzo, a nearby barrio, was also destroyed.
