Vallehermoso has many amazing places to explore. From unique rock formations to beautiful gardens, there's something for everyone!
Los Organos: Nature's Pipe Organ
One of the most incredible sights is a rock formation called Los Organos. Imagine giant organ pipes made of rock! These amazing columns are made from a type of volcanic rock called basalt. They were formed by nature over a very long time. It's like a natural sculpture right by the sea.
Mountain Peaks and National Park
The municipality is also home to some cool mountain peaks. These include El Cercado and La Fortaleza (also known as Chipude). The natural areas around these mountains are part of the famous Garajonay National Park. This park is a special place that protects unique forests and wildlife. It's a UNESCO World Heritage site, which means it's important for the whole world!
El Castillo del Mar: A Cultural Hub
Right by the coast of Vallehermoso, you'll find a cultural center called El Castillo del Mar. This building used to be an old banana factory until the 1950s. Now, it's a lively place where people go for concerts, watch movies, and enjoy traditional folklore music. A photographer named Thomas K. Müller helped restore this "castle" in 1981, bringing it back to life.
Jardín Botánico del Descubrimiento: A World of Plants
In 2000, a wonderful botanical garden was built here. It's called the Jardín Botánico del Descubrimiento de Vallehermoso. This garden is huge, covering an area of about 16,219 square meters. It's special because it has plants from all five continents! You can see many species that explorers found when they discovered the New World. The garden also focuses on plants that are unique to the Canary Islands, especially those found only on La Gomera. It's a great place to learn about plants from all over the globe!
