Vanand Peak facts for kids
Vanand Peak is a very tall and pointy mountain in Antarctica. It reaches 3,100 meters (about 10,170 feet) into the sky! This peak is part of the Zinsmeister Ridge, which is on the northeast side of the huge Vinson Massif. The Vinson Massif is the highest mountain range in Sentinel Range, which is part of the Ellsworth Mountains.
Vanand Peak stands above two glaciers: the Dater Glacier to its east and the Hinkley Glacier to its northwest. A glacier is like a slow-moving river of ice.
This peak got its name from a place called Vanand. This was an old principality (like a small kingdom) of the Bulgars in ancient Armenia.
