Vanessa Huppenkothen Labra is a well-known Mexican model and TV presenter. She works for ESPN Deportes and ESPN Mexico. She is famous for covering major sports events like the FIFA World Cup.

Early Life and Education

Vanessa Huppenkothen was born in Mexico City. Her mother is Mexican, and her father, Dieter Huppenkothen, was a German football player. Vanessa grew up mostly in Mexico. She also spent time with her father in Duisburg, Germany.

She became a big fan of the German football club FC Schalke 04. Vanessa can speak German very well. After finishing school, she studied International Relations in Mexico City. She even wrote her master's thesis about FIFA.

Career Highlights

Vanessa started modeling in 2007 while she was still studying. She won the "Miss Sports Award" in the Miss Mexico National Contest in 2007.

After winning a TV competition, she got a job as a sports journalist. She worked for Televisa Deportes, a Mexican TV station. In 2008, she covered the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing.

She also appeared in some TV shows. These included "Noticiero Televisa Deportes" in 2008 and "¡Despierta América!" in 2010. In 2011, she was a reporter in "Los Héroes del Norte."

Covering Major Sports Events

Vanessa reported on the Mexico national football team at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. She was also a presenter for Televisa's coverage of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. During this time, she became very popular.

She was featured on the cover of magazines like GQ and Esquire.

Moving to ESPN

After working at Televisa for nine years, Vanessa left in March 2016. She then joined ESPN Mexico in July 2016. Today, she is an anchor for the Spanish version of SportsCenter.

She has continued to cover big events for ESPN. These include the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. She also covered the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
