Varmah Sonie (born July 8, 1990) is a former American football player. He played as a cornerback, which is a defensive position. Varmah played college football for the University of Northern Iowa.
Early Life and High School Sports
Varmah Sonie grew up in Apple Valley, Minnesota. He went to Apple Valley High School. There, he was a talented athlete. He played football, basketball, and also competed in track and field.
Football Achievements in High School
During his senior year in 2008, Varmah was a key player for his high school football team, the Eagles. He played in several important roles. These included defensive back, wide receiver, and Return specialist. He caught 41 passes and ran the ball 36 times. He also made 6 interceptions, which means he caught the ball from the other team. Overall, he scored 10 touchdowns that season. His amazing performance earned him the Minnesota's Mr. Football Award. He was also named a Max Prep All-American.
College Football Career
After high school, Varmah Sonie continued his football journey. He played for the University of Northern Iowa. In 2011, during his junior year, he was recognized for his skills. He was named First-team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference. This award shows he was one of the best players in his college football conference.
Professional Football Journey
Varmah Sonie played for several professional football teams. He spent time in both the Arena Football League (AFL) and the National Football League (NFL).
Playing for the Portland Thunder
In November 2013, Varmah joined the Portland Thunder. This team was part of the Arena Football League. In 2014, his great play earned him First-team All-Arena honors. This means he was one of the top players in the entire league.
Time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

On March 19, 2018, Varmah joined the Albany Empire. He played for them in the Arena Football League. He later returned to the Albany Empire on July 19, 2021, when they were part of the National Arena League (NAL).
