What Happened to the Old School?
In 1963, people living in Ventnor decided they wanted to buy the old school building. They offered £150 (which was a good amount of money back then!) to the Department of Education. On March 15, 1963, the property was officially given to the Ventnor Progress Association.
Since then, the old school building has been used for many different things. It's been a meeting place for the progress association, a spot for religious services, and a place for farming and fire control groups to meet. It was even used as a place where people could go to vote in elections! The Ventnor Progress Association still owns and takes care of the building today.
