Vira Viktorivna Halushka (Ukrainian: Віра Вікторівна Галушка; Russian: Вера Викторовна Галушка, romanized: Vera Viktorovna Galushka; born 3 February 1982), known by her stage name Vera Brezhneva (Russian: Вера Брежнева), is a famous Ukrainian singer, TV host, and actress.
She became very popular in Eastern Europe and the Baltic countries. She has won several music awards, including "Best Eastern European Artist" at the Big Apple Music Awards in New York. She also received a special award for her charity work. Vera Brezhneva is also a UN Goodwill Ambassador.

Early Life and Education
Vera Brezhneva was born on February 3, 1982, in Dniprodzerzhynsk, which was then part of the Ukrainian SSR in the Soviet Union. Her father, Viktor, and her mother, Tamara, both worked in a chemical factory. Tamara had also graduated from medical school.
Vera has three sisters: an older sister named Halyna, and younger twin sisters named Nastya and Vika. She later bought an apartment for her parents in Boryspil, a town near Kyiv. Vera studied economics through a special program at the Dnipropetrovsk Institute of Railway Engineering.
Music Career
Joining Nu Virgos
In 2002, Vera Brezhneva was invited to try out for the music group Nu Virgos. She was chosen to replace one of the singers. In January 2003, the group started performing with a new lineup: Nadiya, Anna, and Vera. This group became very popular and was often called "the golden lineup."
In July 2007, Vera decided to take a break from the band. In December 2007, it was officially announced that she was leaving Nu Virgos. Another singer, Tatiana Kotova, took her place in the group.
Solo Music and TV Work
After leaving Nu Virgos, Vera Brezhneva started working as a TV presenter. She hosted the Russian version of the game show Power of 10, called Magic of 10. This show aired for two seasons in 2008.
In May 2008, Vera released her first solo song, "Ya ne igrayu" (I Don't Play). Her former producer, Konstantin Meladze, wrote the song. She released her second song, "Nirvana," later that year. In 2009, her third song, "Ljubov v bolshom gorode" (Love in the Big City), came out.
Vera also appeared in a music video for the song "Leto vsegda" (Summer always) with other actresses. Her fourth song, "Ljubov spasyot mir" (Love will Save the World), was released in April and became a number one hit in Russia. She also released duets with other artists, like "Pronto" with Potap and "Lepestkami slyoz" (Petal Tears) with Dan Balan. In early 2012, she released "Ishu tebya" (Searching for You).
Recent Years and Changes
Vera Brezhneva continued her career in Russia after 2014. However, after the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, she showed her support for Ukraine and left Russia. She also divorced Konstantin Meladze, whom she had married in 2015.
Vera moved to Riga, Latvia, but she has visited Ukraine a few times during the conflict. She also started releasing her first songs in the Ukrainian language in 2022 and 2023. Vera continues to raise her two daughters, Sonya and Sara. Sonya is from her first marriage to Vitaliy Voychenko, and Sara is from her second marriage to Mykhailo Kiperman.
Acting Career
Vera Brezhneva has acted in many Russian-language films, mostly romantic comedies.
She played the role of Katya in the movie Love in the Big City in 2009. She also appeared in its two follow-up films in 2010 and 2013. In 2016, she starred in 8 Best Dates. Vera also played herself in the popular movies Yolki and Yolki 2, and appeared in the film Jungle.
Television Appearances
Besides hosting, Vera Brezhneva also took part in the second season of the Russian ice skating competition show Ice Age.
