Victory Township was officially formed in 1868. It is believed that the township was named "Victory" to celebrate the Union's win in the Civil War.

Chapple Corners: A Former Community
- Chapple Corners was once a small, unincorporated community. It was located along the Big Sable River. This community was founded in 1864. It even had its own post office from 1874 until 1881.

Victory Township is found in the northwestern part of Mason County. U.S. Route 31 is a major road that runs north to south along the eastern edge of the township.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the township covers a total area of about 36.50 square miles (94.53 square kilometers). Most of this area, 35.93 square miles (93.06 square kilometers), is land. The remaining 0.57 square miles (1.48 square kilometers), or 1.56%, is water.
Rivers and Waterways
The Lincoln River flows through the central and southern parts of the township. It has both a north and a south branch. The northern part of the township is drained by the Big Sable River. This river crosses the northwest corner of the township. It is also part of Hamlin Lake. Both the Lincoln River and the Big Sable River flow west into Lake Michigan.

In 2000, there were 1,444 people living in Victory Township. These people made up 497 households, with 376 of them being families. The population density was about 40.2 people per square mile. There were 572 housing units, with an average of 15.9 units per square mile.
