Vilters-Wangs is a town in Switzerland. It is located in the St. Gallen area, which is a part of Switzerland called a canton. The town is also part of the Sarganserland region.

History of Vilters-Wangs
The town of Vilters-Wangs was first mentioned in old writings around the year 843. At that time, it was known by the name Filtris. Before 1996, the town was simply called Vilters.
Geography and Location
Vilters-Wangs covers an area of about 32.7 square kilometers (12.6 square miles). A large part of this land, about 46.3%, is used for farming. Forests cover another 34% of the area.
About 5.1% of the land has buildings or roads. The rest, about 14.5%, is made up of rivers, lakes, or other natural areas. The town is located near a main highway. It sits where a village stream flows into the Rhine River. Vilters-Wangs is made up of two main villages: Vilters and Wangs.
Coat of Arms
The official symbol of Vilters-Wangs is its coat of arms. It shows a blue fleur-de-lis (a lily flower symbol) on a gold background on one side. On the other side, it has a gold five-pointed star on a blue background.
